A fantastic way to see Chicago’s Loop – from the El! Its fun, educational, and if you’re new to the city its a great way to get your feet wet as a local!
The Loop Tour Train is presented by the City of Chicago and Sears on State and is cosponsored by the Chicago Architecture Foundation, Chicago Office of Tourism, and the Chicago Transit Authority. The Loop Tour Train is available on Saturdays only, May 5 – September 29, 2001. It is a 40-minute tour of the downtown loop area on board a CTA “”L”” train which offers a unique vantage point for seeing Chicago’s internationally renowned architecture. The tour is fully narrated by Chicago Architecture Foundation docents. Free tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis beginning at 10:00 am on the day of the tour. Tickets are available at the Chicago Cultural Center Visitor Information Center, 77 East Randolph Street (at Michigan Avenue). Tours depart from the Randolph/Wabash CTA station at 11:35 am, 12:15 pm, 12:55 pm, and 1:35 pm. The Loop Tour Train is wheelchair accessible through the Clark/Lake CTA station. Tour passengers who request elevator assistance to board the train can make arrangements with the tourism staff when they pick up their tickets.
