Schiller Park’s history is full and varied and worth the view, featuring things like 1) Alexander Robinson, whose checkered life leaves a legacy of legends that continues to provide good story-telling, 2) Henry Brockman’s grist mill not only ground the farmer’s corn for many years, the mill itself was a favorite gathering place to get the latest news, 3) entrepreneur William Kolze’s big “white house” stood as a landmark for over 90 years, 4) the Soo Line Railroad was the glue that kept the town going during the Great Depression, 5) the two-lane dirt road that bisected the town carried the proud name Irving Park Boulevard.
The Village of Schiller Park is home to 11,000 residences and over 550 businesses, including commercial and industrial, all encompassed in a 2.75-square-mile area. Schiller Park is bordered by O’Hare International Airport to the west, the Chi Chi Pin Quoi Forest Preserves to the east, the Village of Rosemont to the north and Franklin Park to the south. Schiller Park is easily accessible from the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) and the Kennedy Expressway (I 90/94).
Drivers can reach the Loop in 25 minutes and Midway Airport in 45 minutes. O’Hare Airport is just a five-minute drive. The Metra commuter train leaves Franklin Park and arrives in the Loop 25 minutes later. For a new experience transfer in River Grove to the new Antioch/Downtown Metra Line.
