Hungry for a little downtown exercise? Then strap on your skates and cruise the rink smack-dab in the middle of the Loop! Its great! Underneath some of the finest buildings in the world (and the watchful eye of the Picasso sculpture) you can spend a great afternoon or evening having wintertime fun!

Admission: $2 adults, $1 kids under 14. Skate rental: $2 adults, $1 kids. Seniors enjoy both free admission and rental.

Shake off wintertime doldrums out on the ice! The Glenview Ice Center is a year-round arena with two rinks (yep TWO!), a multi-purpose/meeting room, concession stand, pro-shop, skate rental, and main rink with over 800 seats. If you’re in the Glenview area, take advantage of this outstanding facility!

Bored? Got cabin fever? Want to get outside and get your blood flowin’? Then strap on your skates in the Loop and have a great day!

This ice rink, 200 feet long and 80 feet wide, totals 15,910 square-feet of skating surface. Skate rentals are available.

During the off-season the rink will be used as an outdoor restaurant and activity center. Skate rentals are $3.

Hours: 9-11:15 a.m.; noon-2 p.m.; 2:30-4:30 p.m.; 5-7:15 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; and 7:45-9:45 p.m. Thursday

Gotta skate? Then hit this great rink! Its opened year-round! Its clean, fun, cheap, and if you don’t have your own skates, you can rent them. So the next time you’re sitting around wondering what to do (any time of the year), try out this great facility!

Admission: $2.50, adults, $2 high schoolers, $1.50 kids under 13. Rental is $2.

Midway Skating Rink

As part of an overall plan for the Midway Plaisance, a permanent skating rink was constructed as a joint effort of the University of Chicago, the City of Chicago, and the Chicago Park District.

The Olympic-size rink, on the Midway between Ellis and Woodlawn avenues, is accompanied by a skate rental area, a café, a rooftop observation deck, an elevator, and a 2,800 square-foot warming house. Its fantastic!!

In summer, the facility will be used for roller skating, cultural productions, and community festivals.

From stumblers and bumblers to the Brian Orsers of the world – everyone will admit this is a great rink. Come out to Mt. Greenwood Park and see for yourself! The Olympic-sized outdoor city rink opened for the first time at the start of December. Free admission, rental $3 adults, $2 kids.

Besides skating, River Trails consists of 9 parks providing residents and visitors with a variety of programs and facilities to keep the active family on the move.

Playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, bike tracks, walking and cycling paths, roller hockey courts (so you won’t lose your edge in the hot summer months), a swimming pool, and even sledding hills are just a sampling of the facilities available.

This is one of Chicago’s shining achievements (at least as far as parks go). Warren Park offers a great skating rink – so get out there and take advantage of it before the summer heat gets its hands on the ice!

And besides the rink, this 89-acre park’s outdoor facilities and activities include five baseball fields, three combination football-soccer fields, 16 basketball standards, a volleyball court, 12 tennis courts, a croquet course, three horseshoe pits, three shuffleboards, three playgrounds, a bicycle path, the nine-hole Robert A. Black Golf Course, and a putting practice area.

The indoor facilities include an air-conditioned fieldhouse with kitchen, gymnasiums and a concession/service building. Call the park for details on organized activities!
